What are the key points for daily maintenance of miniature circuit breakers?
Date:2026-07-24

The routine maintenance of miniature circuit breakers mainly includes the following aspects:

I. Regular cleaning and visual inspection

Every six months or so, the circuit breaker surface should be cleaned with a dry, soft cloth or brush while the power is off, especially around the contacts and arc-extinguishing chamber, to ensure insulation performance. At the same time, check the casing for cracks or deformation, and whether the terminals are loose or corroded.

II. Inspection and Maintenance of Key Components

Regularly inspect the contact surfaces for scratches or oxidation. Replace contacts that are severely worn (e.g., less than 1mm thick) promptly. For circuit breakers with operating mechanisms, apply a suitable amount of special lubricating oil to the transmission components after a period of use. Replace the arc-extinguishing cover if it is severely burned.

III. Avoid overload and frequent operation

The load should be matched to the rated current to avoid long-term overload operation of the circuit breaker, which could cause it to overheat. Miniature circuit breakers are mainly used as protective components and should not be used as ordinary switches for frequent opening and closing operations.

IV. Regular Functional Testing

For circuit breakers with leakage current protection, it is recommended to press the test button once a month to confirm that its tripping protection function is normal. If it does not trip after pressing the button, it indicates that the equipment may have failed and needs to be repaired in time.

V. Handling after a fault trip

After a circuit breaker trips due to overload or short circuit, do not force it to be closed. First, check and eliminate the line fault, then move the handle to the "open" position to reset the mechanism before attempting to close it again. If it cannot be reset or internal damage is found, contact a professional for assistance; do not attempt to disassemble it yourself.
